Stephen Warnock says he would ‘love’ for Liverpool to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice during the summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool left-back added that Declan Rice would be a ‘huge addition’ to Jurgen Klopp’s side if they managed to secure his signature.

Although, he admitted that the England international needs to join a team that will be playing Champions League football next season.

Whilst Manchester United are starting to stumble, it’s still unlikely that Liverpool finish in the top-four, with their old rivals one point ahead and having played a game less.

But in this crazy world of football, you just never know, and all Klopp can do is push his side to win their remaining matches. They travel to out-of-sorts and 18th-placed Leicester City next after they shipped five.

It seems highly unlikely now that Jude Bellingham will be heading to Merseyside, so bearing that in mind, Warnock wouldn’t mind his England teammate at the club, instead, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports (08/05/23).

“I think he needs to be playing Champions League football,” said Warnock. “He is an outstanding footballer.

“Without being disrespectful to West Ham, if he leaves and goes to a top-four club in the Champions League places, then he will improve and get better.

“I would love to see him at Liverpool. I am not going to lie. I have said that many, many times. I think he would be a huge addition to Liverpool.”

RICE’S FORM

West Ham have had a troublesome campaign that included a relegation battle, which was probably put to bed on Sunday.

Following David Moyes’ side beating Manchester United 1-0, it puts the Hammers on 37 points, seven clear of danger, and in truth, sealed their safety.

Rice, whose performance at the start of the season were questioned by Roy Keane, has played a part in that, but he is starting to showcase his best form when it matters most.
