Liverpool could reportedly take advantage of Juventus’ ongoing financial scandal to sign Federico Chiesa in the summer, with the Serie A side expected to be gutted of their best players come the end of the season.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in signing the Italian international and there could soon be an opportunity for the Merseyside club to sign Chiesa based on Juventus’ brewing ‘Plusvalenza’ scandal.
O’Rourke said about Chiesa leaving Juventus amid interest from the likes of Liverpool: “Maybe in the summer, he might have the likes of Liverpool and other Premier League clubs looking at him and seeing if they can capitalise on Juventus’ financial situation.”
Juventus have been docked 15 points this season due to financial irregularities and false accounting in relation to transfer dealings in the past, and with more punishments expected to hit the Bianconeri, there’s every chance that some of the club’s biggest names will want a transfer in the summer.

Indeed, with Chiesa arguably Juventus’ most valuable player and now back in action after nearly a year out due to injury, the 25-year-old, who could be valued as highly as £54m, will be a prime target for many top sides, with Liverpool amongst the growing pack.
Although the Reds are stacked for attacking options, Chiesa could be viewed by some as the heir to Mohamed Salah’s right-wing throne at Anfield. Though with a potential Juventus firesale on the horizon, Liverpool have bigger squad issues at hand than replacing the Egyptian international.
Liverpool signing Chiesa could be ill-timed given midfield issues

The January transfer window might have just shut, but there’s a growing sense already from Liverpool experts that the summer will be massive for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp potentially set to embark on his biggest squad rebuild yet, which realistically shouldn’t include a plan to sign Chiesa.
After all, another wide-attacker is hardly what Liverpool needs based on their central midfield issues as well as problems in defensive depth. And whilst Chiesa would be an incredible signing in isolation, the Reds simply have bigger problems in their squad than spending big on a Salah successor.
