Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Barcelona have their seen bid rejected for Sofyan Amrabat on deadline day, who has reportedly been a long-time target for Liverpool.

Fiorentina reject Barcelona bid for Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat

On Monday, Italian outlet Calciomercato have claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side were ready to make a move for the Moroccan, in case Fiorentina lowered their £35 million asking price for the sought-after midfielder.

As Xavi’s side seemed to be keen on hijacking a transfer for one of the World Cup’s biggest breakout stars, the signs on show seemed worrying for the Reds.

However, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Fiorentina have turned down a bid from Barcelona for Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat.the club have decided not to accept Barcelona’s proposal to sign him, turning down an initial bid.

The La Liga leaders had offered a total £35.1 million package to sign the rangy defensive midfielder, described as ‘extraordinary’ by Luis Enrique (via Football Italia) including a loan fee in the region of £2.6-£3.5 million.

However, Fiorentina are ‘not accepting’ these conditions, as Barcelona have seen their bid rejected for Liverpool-linked dynamo, Sofyan Amrabat.

On the surface, this is excellent news for the Premier League giants, who are in desperate need for a backup to Fabinho, who has struggled for form this season.

Should Liverpool try to make a last-ditch move for the midfielder?

The answer is yes, as the aforementioned Brazilian international looks way past his best, to the extent where suggesting a redemption arc seems optimistic at this point.

Liverpool’s free-fall seems to be never-ending, after they exited the FA Cup this weekend, and with the young Stefan Bajcetic currently starting, they should try to at least sign Sofyan Amrabat after Barcelona’s bid was turned down.

Considering the club would aim to reclaim the status of title challengers next season, a lack of investment could all but confirm that they do not secure Champions League football, which would affect them in the summer as well.
