Liverpool have a ‘very good relationship’ with the agent of Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Matheus Nunes. The Wolves midfielder is a transfer target of Jurgen Klopp for the summer.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports a second successive summer switch for the 24-year-old ‘could happen’. Nunes only moved to Molineux in August in a £38m, rising up to £42m, deal from Sporting Lisbon. His transfer was also a club-record fee for Wolves.

Molineux chiefs further edged their counterparts at Anfield to sign the 11-cap Portugal ace in the off-season. But Liverpool ‘really appreciate’ Nunes, so are now targeting his transfer from Wolves for this summer’s sales. Romano also senses a strong possibility for him to go.

Romano has also issued a positive update for Liverpool’s pursuit after noting that the Reds have a ‘very good relationship’ with Jorge Mendes, the agent of Wolves star Nunes. It may prove beneficial to any bid that Klopp makes to break the Brazil-born star out of Molineux.

Nunes is under contract in the West Midlands until June 2027 on a £100k-a-week deal. The Rio de Janeiro native has also started 13 of his 15 Premier League appearances so far this term. He has made a total of 19 outings with Wolves across all competitions for one assist.

Liverpool are expected to sign Nunes from Wolves in a summer transfer

Liverpool sharing excellent relations with Mendes could certainly support any swoop Klopp makes for Nunes’ transfer from Wolves. Romano citing the Reds’ interest in the midfielder also comes after The Telegraph reported the Anfield natives are now expected to sign him.

It claims that Liverpool are exploring an off-season deal likely to be worth around £44m as their interest never faded. While The Athletic reports Wolves know Klopp wants Nunes on Merseyside later this year. But Si Phillips notes Chelsea are also interested in his signature.

Should the Blues also bid, Liverpool may lean on their relationship with Mendes to secure Nunes’ transfer from Wolves. The Telegraph adds the super-agent has already helped the Reds broker one deal of late with Darwin Nunez’s £64m, up to £85m, arrival from Benfica.
