Liverpool have reportedly made a further enquiry to sign Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Randal Kolo Muani, with Manchester United making a similar move for the France international.

According to L’Equipe, the Premier League duo have both made requests for more information on the 24-year-old forward, who has been one of the breakout stars in Europe this season after scoring 12 goals and registering 13 assists in all competitions for Frankfurt.

As well as starring for the Bundesliga giants, Kolo Muani was key to France reaching the 2022 FIFA World Cup final with a goal in the semi-finals against Morocco and turning the game on its head against Argentina, with the forward almost scoring the winner had it not been for Emi Martinez’s miracle save in stoppage time.

With such an incredible rise, interest has of course emerged in recent weeks, with Liverpool on of the clubs interested in signing Kolo Muani, who Frankfurt have immediately slapped a €100m (£88m) price tag on ahead of the summer transfer window.

Although Liverpool brought in Cody Gakpo in January, it appears that the Reds are looking to add even more firepower to their attacking line in the summer, with the Anfield side looking to compete with United for the signing of Kolo Muani.

With Frankfurt signing the versatile forward for free last summer, the German side currently stand to make an incredible profit from the Paris-born superstar, with Liverpool seemingly leading the chase to sign Kolo Muani when the window re-opens for business.

Liverpool’s season has been nothing short of a mess, and barring a miracle in the UEFA Champions League, Jurgen Klopp is on course to endure his worst-ever year at Anfield, and signing another attacker in the summer will do little to solve the problems facing the Reds.

As we know, injuries at centre-back and a lack of quality depth in midfield have played a huge role in Liverpool’s downfall this season, and whilst Kolo Muani is an incredible talent, the Frenchman offers little for what the Merseyside club actually need in the summer.
