Liverpool are reportedly assessing rival clubs in an attempt to make a last-minute January signing, with the Reds keen to bring in a central midfielder on loan before Tuesday’s deadline.
According to the Daily Mail, the Merseyside club are weighing up options from top European sides like PSG, Atletico Madrid and Juventus to see if any temporary deals could be completed, with Jurgen Klopp’s squad in desperate need od some midfield depth.
Liverpool this weekend crashed out of the FA Cup away to Brighton & Hove Albion, and with Real Madrid coming up in the UEFA Champions League next month, the Reds face the realistic possibility of winning nothing this season having won a double last year and came two games away from the quadruple.
Whilst Liverpool have made a January signing this month in Cody Gakpo, many supporters and pundits have agreed that a midfielder would have been a better use of the Reds’ limited funds, with Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara enduring difficult seasons and injuries hitting this area of the pitch the hardest.

Indeed, Liverpool could have acted smartly at the start of the window and signed a central midfielder, however, in a rare miss-step from the Anfield side, the decision to sign an attacker this January has already turned out to be one that was the wrong play for Klopp.
And with just under 48 hours remaining until the closure of the January window, Liverpool are in a race against time to make any sort of midfield signing, where the Reds will likely replicate their Arthur Melo deal in the summer, another transfer that has blown up in the Premier League giants face.
Liverpool could bottle January window with rash last-minute signing

Liverpool surprised many on deadline day in the summer with the signing of Arthur on loan given the midfielder’s injury problems, and with the Brazilian hardly featuring for the Reds since joining from Juventus, the transfer as a whole has been one of the worst Klopp has ever made during his tenure on Merseyside.
And with Liverpool once again in a similar situation, the Anfield side once again risk making another rash signing based on how little time they have left to both find a target that is suitable for the squad and actually attainable in the remaining hours of the transfer window.
