Liverpool could now move for Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven in a potential reunion with inbound Jorg Schmadtke.
Wolfsburg talent Micky van de Ven is attracting interest from Liverpool according to reports from iNews.
It’s stated that Jorg Schmadtke has agreed a three-month deal to become Liverpool’s new sporting director.
Julian Ward is leaving Liverpool this summer and the Reds have gone with a short-term replacement in Schmadtke.
The German knows Jurgen Klopp well and, if this short-term move works out, Schmadtke could stay at Anfield a little while yet.
It’s suggested that Schmadtke’s arrival could open the door to arrivals from the Bundesliga – such as Wolfsburg defender Van de Ven.
It’s stated that sources close to Van de Ven have acknowledged real interest from Liverpool, who have been tracking him of late.
Schmadtke signed Van de Ven for Wolfsburg in 2021 and his arrival at Liverpool could now spark a deal for the Dutchman.

Who is Liverpool target Micky van de Ven?
Van de Ven joined the Volendam ranks as a 12-year-old and eventually progressed to become a first-team player.
The 6ft 4in centre back turned out 48 times for Volendam before Schmadtke pounced to lure him to Wolfsburg in 2021.
Schmadtke has been a huge fan of Van de Ven, praising him for his consistency earlier this season.
Now with 40 first-team appearances under his belt in Germany, Van de Ven appears to be making huge strides.
The 22-year-old has a big future ahead of him and if anybody knows him, it’s Schmadtke.
Liverpool were seemingly already tracking Van de Ven, no doubt realising they need a centre back target in mind in case Joel Matip or Joe Gomez move on.
Yet with Schmadtke now coming in, Liverpool have a major Van de Ven advocate on board and a summer bid wouldn’t be a huge surprise now.
