Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have made a move for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, according to a report in the Italian media.

Corriere dello Sport have reported that Liverpool are interested in signing Koopmeiners from Atalanta in the summer transfer window.

Juventus are also claimed to be interested in the midfielder.

The report has added that Liverpool have “already taken the first steps” for Koopmeiners, who will cost €40 million (£35 million) in transfer fees.

Exactly what those “first steps” are has not been explained in the report.

Summer transfer could happen

In our view, Liverpool could be able to sign Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta in the summer transfer window.

A move to Anfield would be hugely appealing to the 25-year-old, who has been described as “an extraordinary footballer” by former Atalanta star Domenico Progna in TMW in September 2022.

Koopmeiners has made 28 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A for Atalanta this season.

The Atalanta number 7 has scored seven goals and given three assists in those games.

Last season, Koopmeiners scored four goals and provided one assist in 23 Serie A starts for Atalanta.

We believe that Liverpool would be a better and stronger team in the middle of the park with Koopmeiners in it.
