According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of completing a deal for Joao Gomes, a player Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have also been interested in.

The Italian journalist has claimed that a deal between Wolves and Flamengo has been struck over Gomes in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder only wanted to move to Wolves despite late interest from French club Lyon.

Gomes will sign a contract with Wolves until June 2028, according to Romano.

Wolves’s Premier League rivals Liverpool have also been linked with the Flamengo star.

SPORT have claimed that Liverpool and Real Madrid are interested in signing the 21-year-old.

However, the Brazilian is joining Wolves instead.

The Reds should continue to keep tabs on Joao Gomes

In our view, Liverpool should continue to keep tabs on Joao Gomes at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After all, Gomes is only 21 now, and it is not as if he is going to stay at Wolves for the rest of his career.

In fact, the Brazilian moving to Wolves could actually work out for Liverpool.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners could judge how the youngster does in England and then take it from there.
