Italian outlet Corriero dello Sport have reported that Manchester United have set their sights on signing Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target, Kim Min-jae by triggering the £42.2 million release clause in his contract.
Just last month, the Napoli defender, who Jose Mourinho famously wanted to sign at Spurs was linked with a switch to both Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte’s sides.
However, it now seems as if Manchester United are ready to brush aside the competition from Liverpool and Tottenham to bring Kim Min-jae to Old Trafford in the summer.
Manchester United ready to beat Liverpool & Tottenham to Kim Min-jae signing
While Danny Murphy predicted that the 26-year-old would cost a whopping £100 million for any potential suitor, it seems as if interested parties could snap him up for less than half the fee.
After all, a report by Corriero dello Sport claims that Manchester United plan to wrap up a deal for Kim Min-jae for just £42.2 million by triggering his release clause, leaving Liverpool and Tottenham in the dust.

Whether the player, who has been described as ‘Napoli’s rock’ by Serie A expert Matteo Bonetti via Korea Joong Daily remains a question mark, however, while it has been reported previously that the clause is only valid for 15 days (1st July-15th July).
Manchester United are the clear favourites
If Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all go head-to-head to convince Kim Min-jae to leave Napoli, logic would dictate that Erik ten Hag’s side would be clear favourites.
While a potential exit mainly depends on which club pays the release clause, United’s project looks like the most exciting, while their English rivals continue to deteriorate.
With Ten Hag steering his side to a virtually guaranteed top 4 finish, a potential late run in Europa League as they look dead set to beat Barcelona as well as likely winners of the Carabao Cup against Newcastle, the decision seems already made for the in-form centre-back if he decides to bid farewell to Naples.
