Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City reportedly believe that they could sign Alexis Mac Allister ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Manchester City stance on Liverpool target Alexis Mac Allister

90min have reported that Liverpool are keen on finalising a deal to sign Mac Allister from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion this month.

The Reds are determined to bring the Argentina international midfielder to Anfield in the summer transfer window.

However, according to journalist Dean Jones in GiveMeSport, defending Premier League champions Manchester City are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder, described as “incredible” by his Brighton teammate Adam Lallana

Jones has reported that City’s “interest in” Mac Allister is “very real”, and that “there is a feeling he could be getable at £65-70million”.

Worrying for Liverpool

In our view, Manchester City’s interest in Alexis Mac Allister is a real problem for Liverpool.

Now, of course, Liverpool are a massive club, but it is City who regularly win the Premier League title and go close to winning the UEFA Champions League.

And there is also the Pep Guardiola factor at City.

Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world who improves players, and the 2022 Qatar World Cup winner could find the chance to work with the former Barcelona boss hugely appealing.

Liverpool may not be in the UEFA Champions League next season, and the Reds could struggle to compete for the Premier League title next campaign as well if they do not invest in new players.

We believe that if £65-70 million is what it would take to sign Mac Allister, then City could sign him ahead of Liverpool.
