Former Ajax boss Aad de Mos has suggested Liverpool to complete a transfer for Orkun Kokcu instead of Ryan Gravenberch.

Reporter Pedro Sepulveda claimed in April that the Feyenoord midfielder was set to be available for a fee of £23 million in the summer of 2023.

While Ryan Gravenberch to Liverpool is the transfer rumour doing the rounds for the past couple of days, Orkun Kokcu has been suggested as an alternative to the Bayern Munich wonderkid.

For an archetypal No.8, it is impressive that the 22-year-old has eight goals in the league this season for the to-be Eredivisie winners.

But aside from just goal and assist numbers, Kocku is sublime technically, can control the tempo of games and would slot in alongside Thiago extremely well to calm things down in midfield.

While Liverpool seem to have hedged their bets on Ryan Gravenberch as a transfer plan B to Jude Bellingham, Orkun Kokcu has been named as an alternative to him.

“I think Lazio, Roma, AC Milan and Tottenham, those are teams that could definitely fit. If it’s a coach who wants to play attacking football and wants to play good football, then possibly, because it’s all grafted on young players”, Aad de Mos told Feyenoord Pings.

He continued, “If Gravenberch can play at Liverpool and [Cody] Gakpo, he can also play at Liverpool. I think he should look at a club that really suits him. He shouldn’t make the mistake of going to Bayern Munich because of course, it’s a hierarchy that determines who plays and who doesn’t, and also determines whether a coach is good enough.”

“You’ve seen that now with [Julian] Nagelsmann and [Thomas] Tuchel, the situation. He has to look at a team where the coach really wants him, then I think it’s mainly with Liverpool.”

Whether Liverpool actually take the Dutch coach’s advice and shift their transfer objective towards Orkun Kokcu instead of Ryan Gravenberch is an answer only time has in store for us.
