Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Ajax superstar Mohammed Kudus, with Liverpool also believed to be interested in signing the Ghana international.
90min claim that behind the scenes discussions have taken place involving United and the 22-year-old attacker, with Erik Ten Hag seemingly keen to sign yet another former Ajax player following the arrivals of Lisandro Martinez and Antony last summer.
The news will come as a blow for Liverpool, who according to Sports World Ghana are also interested in signing Kudus, with United’s interest something that could cause a major problem for Jurgen Klopp’s side this month.
The Reds have already beaten their Manchester rivals to one signing this window in Cody Gakpo, and United could now return the favour by beating Liverpool to Kudus, who the Sun report could leave Ajax this month for just £40m.

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup star himself seemingly up for leaving Amsterdam this January, United could strike at the perfect time to sign Kudus ahead of their Merseyside rivals, a move that could leave Liverpool feeling low given how ideal the Ajax star is for Klopp.
Indeed, Kudus could thrive in the Premier League, and with a striker position now available at United following the release of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ten Hag could give his former player plenty of minutes, something the forward might not get at Liverpool given the plethora of attacking options at the Reds.
United signing Kudus could be a turning point for the club

Manchester United for some time have felt like a poisoned chalice. A club where no top youngster should move to with their careers all-but-certain set to fall and crumble, with Jadon Sancho seemingly the latest player to suffer such a fate. Yet all of that could change with Kudus.
After all, like Antony, Kudus is a player who knows Ten Hag well and will suit the vision the Dutch manager is trying to create at Old Trafford. And with a striker position vacant, the 22-year-old could be perfect for the job heading into the future.
