Real Madrid reportedly believe that Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is Premier League-bound, with Liverpool one of the favourites to sign the England international.
According to the Athletic, the Spanish giants are losing hope that they can win the race to sign Bellingham despite having the financial power to go toe-to-toe with the Premier League big-guns, with Dortmund’s asking price currently way too much for Madrid.
Bellingham has been heavily linked with an exit away from Germany ahead of the summer transfer window, with Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City currently the three leading clubs to sign the 19-year-old sensation. However, Premier League clubs might now have the edge in a potential deal.
As per the report, Premier League spending in January, which was more than Europe’s four other biggest leagues combined, has worried continental clubs about the financial power English sides now possess. And as a result, Madrid could soon concede defeat in the race to sign Bellingham.

Indeed, for Liverpool, this news will come as a major boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the German manager keen to sign Bellingham in the summer to improve the Reds’ midfield options ahead of what is likely to be a massive rebuild for the Merseyside club.
Lauded as ‘special’ by Andros Townsend, Bellingham ticks a lot of boxes for what Liverpool need in a midfielder this summer. And if Madrid are to drop out of the race, the Premier League giants could soon have a clear shot at bringing the England international to Anfield at the end of this season.
Liverpool beating Madrid to Bellingham signing would be huge

Bellingham has been linked with a move to Liverpool ever since the midfielder moved to Dortmund, and with Madrid now potentially dropping their interest in the 19-year-old due to the finances of such a transfer, the Reds have no real excuse as to why they can’t sign the teenager,
Whilst the looming threat of City and potentially Chelsea is still there for Bellingham, Liverpool should have the means to complete a deal for the midfielder in the summer, with the signing for the Dortmund star one that could elevate the Reds to a whole new level.
