Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has now declared Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as his ‘idol’. His comments come after reports cited the Anfield team with an interest in a transfer.
That is according to Calciomercato, which reported earlier this week that Rabiot is looking for a new club. The 27-year-old is out of contract in Turin in the summer and wants to see what moves are available. At the moment, the strongest interest is in the Premier League.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are positioning themselves to target Rabiot in a free transfer from Juventus. But further English top-flight teams are in the running with overseas rivals. Yet the most intent interest is emerging from the quartet.

In a boost for Liverpool et al’s interest in a transfer, Fabrizio Romano also notes that Rabiot would love to play in the Premier League if he leaves Juventus. The midfielder has enjoyed the last four years in Serie A since leaving Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.
Juventus are yet to surrender in their efforts to keep the 35-cap France international at the club, however. Calciomercato has previously claimed that the Bianconeri offered to extend his €7m-a-year (£119k-a/w) net deal until 2025. But he is asking for €10m-a/y (£170k-a/w).

Rabiot hails Gerrard as his ‘idol’ as Liverpool target the Juventus star’s transfer
Juventus would struggle to improve their offer of a new contract to prevent Liverpool et al from sealing Rabiot’s transfer. Now, in yet a further boost for Jurgen Klopp, the midfielder has declared Reds legend Gerrard as his hero as the Anfield outfit position for his services.
Rabiot has simply stated, via quotes by TuttoMercatoWEB: “My idol is Steven Gerrard.”

Gerrard graduated from Liverpool’s academy to make his debut in 1998 as an 18-year-old under Gerard Houllier. He would go on to amass 710 appearances for the Merseysiders in all competitions. The midfielder also scored 186 goals and laid on 154 assists for the Reds.
The 114-cap England icon also captained his club and country before moving to MLS at LA Galaxy in 2015. While the 42-year-old won the 2004/05 Champions League, 2000/01 UEFA Cup, 2000/01 and 2005/06 FA Cup, and the EFL Cup in 2001, 2003 and 2012 at Liverpool.
