AS Roma are reportedly working on a plan to sign Everton talent Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer, with Liverpool also believed to be interested in the 20-year-old centre-back.

According to Giallorossi.net, the Serie A side have been scouting the on-loan PSV Eindhoven star for quite some time, and it is expected that Branthwaite will leave Everton in the summer amid growing interest in the young English defender.

As per the report, Everton could sell Branthwaite for as little as €10m (£8.5m), and Roma are looking to get themselves at the front of the queue to sign the former League Two star, who this season has impressed greatly in the Eredivisie for PSV.

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are far from alone in their interest for Branthwaite, though, with the Daily Mail recently reporting that Liverpool are surprisingly keen on the defender, who could be the first player to make the Merseyside switch in well over a decade.

Indeed, with Branthwaite seemingly keen on a permanent move away from Everton and the Toffees open to a sale, a deal could be done with Roma in the summer, especially with Chris Smalling set to leave the Serie A side at the end of his contract, which is due to expire later on this year.

Moreover, with the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Ademola Lookman and Roma’s very own Tammy Abraham flourishing in Italy, Branthwaite could be tempted to become the latest British talent to make the move to Serie A to sign for Roma, with a deal for Liverpool extremely unlikely this summer.

Branthwaite has established himself in Europe already this season as a talent for the future, and with Roma now interested in signing the Everton youngster, a deal could soon be done that will see the 20-year-old take his talents to the Italian capital in a deal that would benefit everyone.

As we know, Branthwaite is unlikely to be a regular for Everton next season under Sean Dyche, and with Roma keen on signing the English youngster, the defender could feel confident in his abilities to move to Serie A and to become a regular under Mourinho.
