Super-agent Jorge Mendes is still trying to get Enzo Fernandez to Graham Potter’s Chelsea, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool also interested in the Benfica midfielder, according to TEAMtalk.
Agent trying to get Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea, not Liverpool
The report has claimed that talks between Chelsea and Benfica over a transfer of Fernandez is at a standstill now.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina, himself wants to move to Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The report has added that super-agent ‘Jorge Mendes is still working hard on getting this deal over the line’.
Romano reported on his YouTube channel this week that although Liverpool are interested in Fernandez, club owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are not going to pay €120 million (£106 million) in transfer fees for the Benfica midfielder in the January transfer window.

Blow for Liverpool
In our view, super-agent Jorge Mendes personally trying to get Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea is a blow for Liverpool.
With the youngster having agreed personal terms with Chelsea and keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge in the middle of the season, we do not think that Liverpool have much chance of bringing him to Anfield.
Unless, of course, the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners decide to trigger Fernandez’s release clause of €120 million (£106 million).
We do not think that it is going to happen.
Liverpool are unlikely to cough up over £100 million on a 21-year-old midfielder who has been playing in European football only since the summer of 2022.
