Jamie Carragher has said that after how well Nicolo Barella performed for Inter Milan in their 3-3 draw against Benfica in the Champions League final, Liverpool might have to pay an extra £10m to complete his transfer.
Less than two weeks ago, it was reported that the Serie A giants were warming up to the idea of reducing the Italian international’s price tag.
However, it seems Jamie Carragher believes a transfer for Nicolo Barella will be even pricier than before for Liverpool after his heroics in the Champions League.
What Jamie Carragher said about Liverpool target Nicolo Barella
The Euro 2020 winner is one of the best midfielders in Europe, renowned for being excellent technically and an adept ball-winner in the middle of the park.
While several midfielders are often pigeonholed in sides due to their elite, yet limited skillset, the 26-year-old is as complete as they get.
As Nicolo Barella scored a scorcher for Inter Milan against Benfica in what was yet another superb outing from him, Jamie Carragher noted that Liverpool may now have to pay more than before to get a transfer over the line due to his European exploits.

“He was fantastic. There’s actually talk of him being linked to my club called Liverpool for next season. So, that’s an extra £10 million we may have to pay on top of the price tag if it does happen”, he said on CBS Sports Golazo.
HITC View: A move looks impossible
Forget the price tag, why would one of Europe’s most sought-after midfielders join a club that looks unlikely to be in the Champions League next season?
It really is as simple as that and while Jamie Carragher may have a point about Nicolo Barella perhaps becoming more expensive now due to how he has stepped up in Europe’s elite competition, a transfer to Liverpool looks like the furthest thing from reality currently.
Unless the Reds somehow manage to get into the top four, they can forget about targeting players of Barella’s calibre.
