According to Eurosport, Liverpool don’t intend to make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland until next summer.

The Reds aren’t expected to be in the market for big-money signings this summer, with the Fenway Sports Group once again keeping a firm hand on the pursestrings.

Fans hoping for a big move to sign Kylian Mbappe will be left disappointed, and it seems that you can add Haaland to the list of players Liverpool can’t sign this summer.

What’s being said about Liverpool and Haaland?

It’s stated that Liverpool – alongside Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona – would only plan to make an offer for Haaland next year.

That leaves Chelsea and Real Madrid in the clear for a move this summer, with the Reds seemingly biding their time until 2022.

Why would that be? Well, the report claims that Haaland has a €75million (£64million) release clause in his deal that only becomes active next summer – around half of what Dortmund would demand this summer.

That’s a much more palatable price for Liverpool, but whether or not they will have the chance to win the race in a year’s time remains to be seen.

How has Haaland performed at Dortmund?

Since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, Haaland has been a phenomenon. With 57 goals and 15 assists in 59 games for Dortmund, the Norwegian has been unbelievable.

Haaland is still just 20, and looks set to terrorise defences for years. With Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all approaching their 30’s, Liverpool will want new blood in attack.

Haaland fits the bill as a former Red Bull player like like Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Mane, but Liverpool will have to wait a year to try and pull off a deal for Haaland, who wants to play for Jurgen Klopp according to Sky Sports.
