Here is the latest transfer news coming out of Anfield this summer as senior club sources respond to reports linking Virgil Van Dijk with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Virgil Van Dijk

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr this summer.

HITC reported that the Reds were keen on tying down the Dutchman to a new contract at Anfield as former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot begins his new job at the Merseyside club.

A report from The Athletic has stated that senior club officials have stated that no club-to-club contacts have taken place between the Reds and Al-Nassr about a deal.

Luis Diaz

Another player sale which continues to do the rounds is Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who has had a mixed time in England since his move from FC Porto in 2022.

Diaz has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona but the same report from The Athletic states that the club are planning for the winger to join the squad in pre-season.

As well as this, the report goes on to say that the Reds would demand a significant fee for the 27-year-old and it certainly seems unlikely that Barcelona, with all their financial problems, would be able to afford the winger.

David Hancko

With Slot joining the Reds from Feyenoord, it is only natural that the Dutchman may run the rule over his former club to see which player could be good enough to move to Anfield.

One of these players who has been linked is defender David Hancko, who had a brilliant season for the Rotterdam club during the last campaign.

With Joel Matip leaving the club on a free transfer, a new centre-back is reportedly high on the club’s list of targets and Hancko would be an affordable option.

In the newspaper edition of Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish outlet focuses on Atletico Madrid’s interest but does mention Liverpool are indeed keen on the Dutchman.

A fee of around £30 million would reportedly get the deal done.

Riccardio Calafiori

Another name who could be a superb signing for the Reds to solve their central defensive issues is Italian Riccardo Calafiori.

According to The Athletic’s report, the Reds have made an enquiry for the 22-year-old left-footed central defender.

Calafiori made his debut for the Italian national team during the victory over Albania and was described as ‘extraordinary’ by Gianluca Zambrotta.

Calafiori has been linked with Juventus with HITC reporting that Thiago Motta is keen on reuniting with the defender.
