Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, with Liverpool and Newcastle United both believed to be interested in the French youngster.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, the Blues have once again set their sights on one of European football’s most exciting young talents, with Chelsea now interested in signing Kone amid recent reports that both Liverpool and Newcastle are also chasing the Gladbach star.
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the Premier League duo, along with Bayern Munich and PSG, are all tracking Kone, with Media Foot claiming that Newcastle had a £31m bid rejected for the 21-year-old ‘diamond talent’.
Regarded by many as one of the best young midfielders in the Bundesliga, Kone has exploded onto the scene this season with his performances for Gladbach. And now, there is an expectation that the Paris-born talent will leave Germany this month for the right offer.

Given how care-free Chelsea have been with finances already under new owner Todd Boehly, there is now seemingly every chance that the Blues will throw everything at Gladbach to sign Kone, especially with Liverpool and Newcastle already in the race for the midfielder.
Indeed, whilst the move could be viewed as another example of Chelsea’s American owner signing a young prospect for the sake of it, Kone could actually be a good addition for the Blues, with midfield a position the west London side need improvements in this window.
Chelsea signing Kone could be one of their best deals in some time

Interest in Kone has spiked in recent weeks, with the race to sign the Gladbach youngster heating up with each passing day as new reports file in. Yet for Chelsea and their mad world, the midfielder could actually be a solid addition for Graham Potter’s side.
After all, the Blues are in desperate need of a revamp in the midfield, and with Kone now on their radar, the west London side could land one of the most exciting players in Europe in that position ahead of their Premier League rivals Liverpool and Newcastle.
