Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly believe they can sign rumoured Liverpool target Daichi Kamada for free despite the Eintracht Frankfurt attacker closing in on a move to Borussia Dortmund.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League duo are yet to give up hope on signing the Japanese international amid news that Kamada will leave Frankfurt as a free agent at the end of this season, though the 26-year-old is currently in talks with Bundesliga giants Dortmund.

With Liverpool also interested in the versatile forward, Todd Boehly’s Chelsea or United winning the race to sign Kamada right from Dortmund’s noses would be quite the move from either English giant, especially with the Reds arguably in the best position to land the Asian superstar this summer.

Roberto Firmino’s departure at the end of this season means that Liverpool are in need of an attacker to replace the Brazilian international, and given how perfect Kamada could be under Jurgen Klopp, the Anfield side missing out on the forward to Chelsea or United will be a killer blow.

Whilst Dortmund remain favourites, the pull the Premier League now has on the European market cannot be understated, and Chelsea or United could easily blow the Bundesliga side out of the water with a huge contract offer to sign Kamada, much to Liverpool’s dismay.

Indeed, the Japanese international could be a sensational addition for the Reds given the departure of Firmino, yet with Chelsea and United still stalking Kamada, either side could soon make an attempt to secure the Frankfurt star on a pre-contract agreement.

With 13 goals in all competitions this season, Kamada is very much fitting the peak of his footballing career, and a move to one of Europe’s elite is more than on the cards for the Bundesliga star. Though for Liverpool, Chelsea or United could now win the race to sign the Japanese international.

As mentioned, Dortmund could still land the forward if they can reach an agreement in the coming weeks. But with Premier League sides showing a swagger about them, Liverpool could miss out on Kamada if Chelsea or United make a last-minute move for the 26-year-old.
