Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with Joao Gomes and the Flamengo midfielder himself has publicly said that he wants to play for the Anfield club, but latest reports suggest that he is off to Julen Lopetegui’s Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window.
Well-known and well-respected Brazilian journalist Vene Casagrande has reported on Twitter that Flamengo are now close to selling Gomes to Premier League rivals Wolves.
The final details are now being sorted out now, according to Casagrande.
The journalist wrote on Twitter, as translated from Portuguese: “Urgent news: João Gomes is close to being sold to Wolves, from England. Details being sorted out for the Flamengo midfielder to transfer to English football.”

Wolves to deal Liverpool Joao Gomes transfer blow?
This will come as a blow for Liverpool and perhaps even a surprise.
Sport had earlier reported that Liverpool are keen on signing the 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder.
The report added that the youngster has a release clause of €60 million (£53 million) in his contract at Flamengo.
Real Madrid were named as an interested club in that report.
Back in August 2022, Gomes told ESPN Brazil that he would love to play for Liverpool.
Wolves are now actually fighting for survival in the Premier League, while Liverpool are aiming to finish in the Premier League top four.
The Reds also tend to challenge for the league title and for the UEFA Champions League on a regular basis.
