The Liverpool transfer news isn’t as exciting as it was, say, last week.

Now that Cody Gakpo has signed, and speculation about Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez has died down a little, excitement has declined, too.

But there’s still Liverpool transfer news in the form of potential outgoings.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is enjoying something of a second wind under Jurgen Klopp.

The former Arsenal winger, a £40 million signing in 2017 [Guardian], is playing a lot more regularly and scored his first goal in a year a little earlier this month.

However, he is ‘leaving’ Liverpool.

That is according to The Daily Mail, who claim that Oxlade-Chamberlain is almost certain to be departing Merseyside either in January or next summer, when his contract expires.

The report has added that Premier League clubs are keen on signing the 29-year-old, too.

AC Milan were tentatively linked in December but rumours of English interest are a lot more, well, interesting.

Some Liverpool supporters might be disappointed to see him go.

The England international cost a lot of money five-and-a-half years ago and although he has shown flashes, there’s a sense of unfulfilled potential with Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Some of this is down to injury, including a year-long spell he spent out across 2018 and 2019.

But for the most part, he hasn’t really been as consistent as Jurgen Klopp has needed and for that reason, leaving makes sense for all parties.
