Stade Rennais attacker and rumoured Liverpool and Tottenham target Martin Terrier is set to earn his first call-up to the France squad following calls from Thierry Henry for the winger to be included in this month’s team.
According to France Bleu, the Ligue 1 superstar will this week be named in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the first time after a breakout year with Rennes last season, with Terrier one of the best forwards in the division and attracting summer interest from numerous Premier League clubs.
Reports suggest that Liverpool and Tottenham were both interested in the £35m-rated attacker with Antonio Conte’s side even making a bid for the Rennes forward, however, the winger opted to remain in France to continue his good form from last season.
And maintain his form the 25-year-old has done, with Terrier this season bagging three goals in Ligue 1 following on from his 21-goal campaign last year, with only Kylian Mbappe the only Frenchman to score more in France than the Rennes winger.

Indeed, as per France Bleu, many top pundits wanted Terrier to be named in Deschamps’ squad for this month’s UEFA Nations League fixtures, including Premier League legend Henry, and the Arsenal icon’s wish has seemingly been granted following this latest reports.
With France one of the favourites for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Terrier could find himself as a member of the squad ahead of Qatar if the winger impresses in these upcoming international fixtures, and his performances could raise his price tag for interested clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham.
Terrier being named in the France squad could lead to big January transfer

World Cup’s have historically had the impact to massively inflating a player’s transfer fee, and with Terrier now in the France squad, the winger being selected for Qatar could lead to the same phenomenon happening with the Liverpool and Tottenham target.
After all, whilst France’s attacking depth is arguably the best in world football, a goal or two in the World Cup could skyrocket Terrier’s valuation, something that could price Liverpool and Tottenham out of a move for the 25-year-old attacker, who seems to be hitting his stride.
