Tottenham Hotspur managed to grind out a draw at Liverpool – but Gary Neville is seemingly unimpressed with Antonio Conte’s style of play.

Liverpool were gunning for another win to enhance their chances of a Premier League title win and a potential quadruple.

Tottenham frustrated Liverpool with a 2-2 draw back in December and have now done it again.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring in the second half as he tapped home from Ryan Sessegnon’s pass.

Tottenham couldn’t hang on though as Luis Diaz – a Spurs target in January – levelled it up with a deflected strike.

In truth, Tottenham could have won it. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s decision to nod down for Harry Kane instead of go for goal himself will have haunted him last night.

Still, Tottenham grabbed a point and will be happy with their work at Anfield despite the style of play dividing opinion.

Tottenham had only 35% of possession, only eight shots on goal and around half the passes Liverpool made.

Jurgen Klopp wasn’t impressed, suggesting that Tottenham should ‘do more for the game’ and that he simply couldn’t coach playing that way.

Ultimately though, this is what happens when you’re one of the best teams in the world; teams will come and sit in, focus on defending and try and hit you on the break.

Klopp is never impressed by this style of play but Conte will not care; he will just tailor his gameplay to the opponents and nobody at Liverpool will have complained when that style landed Tottenham a 3-2 win at Manchester City.

Still, Conte is coming in for criticism and Gary Neville has joined in.

Conte was heavily linked with the Manchester United job earlier this season, before taking over at Tottenham.

Neville always maintained that Conte wasn’t a United manager because of his style of play.

United are hardly in a position to be turning their nose up at Conte right now but Neville believes Klopp’s comments prove him right.

Neville took to Twitter to suggest that Klopp’s interview summed up why Conte wasn’t right for United, seemingly feeling that United need more expressive football.
