Pundit Joe Cole has hailed Sofyan Amrabat amid claims that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are chasing the Fiorentina midfielder’s signature.
It’s no great secret that Liverpool want new midfielders.
Jurgen Klopp needs to have his engine room almost completely overhauled in terms of depth and quality.
As for Tottenham, they have Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Yves Bissouma in Antonio Conte’s ranks.
A midfielder may not be a desperate need but amid links to Weston McKennie, it’s clear that Spurs are looking in the market.

Joe Cole has hailed Sofyan Amrabat
Both Liverpool and Tottenham are now being heavily linked with the same player.
Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been turning heads for Morocco over at the World Cup in Qatar.
Amrabat has been outstanding as a holding midfielder for Morocco, playing a vital role in their run to the quarter-finals.
The 26-year-old was at his very best against Spain on Tuesday night and the interest is building.
90Min report that Liverpool and Tottenham are both chasing Amrabat whilst Foot Mercato claim that Jurgen Klopp has already met with Amrabat’s representatives.
The battle for Amrabat is well and truly on almost a year since Tottenham missed out on securing Amrabat on loan with an option to buy.
The former Feyenoord ace seems destined to make a big move off the back of this World Cup and he has been dazzling everyone who watches him.
Pundit Joe Cole told ITV Sport (06/12, 3:54pm) that he was very impressed with Amrabat’s display against Spain.
Cole repeatedly said that Amrabat had been ‘excellent’ against Spain and particularly superb in terms of limiting space for Gavi and Pedri.
Cole noted that Amrabat has ‘great defensive instincts’ and almost single-handedly stopped Spain playing through the line, hailing the Morocco star for his reading of the game.
“He’s been excellent,” said Cole. “He’s patrolling the middle of the pitch, he’s not allowing Gavi and Pedri to get into any type of dangerous position, he’s got great defensive instincts. I watched him in the first game and thought he was good, tonight he’s been excellent off the ball.”
“Any time Spain look like they’re trying to make it through the lines, he’s there, he reads it, he’s got lovely balance too. He’s been the epitome of everything good that Morocco have done, he’s been excellent,” he added.
That kind of billing will be music to the ears of people at Liverpool and Tottenham, maybe even Fiorentina as they stand to make millions on Amrabat in 2023.
