Tottenham Hotspur frustrated title-chasing Liverpool on Saturday evening – just as Jamie Redknapp predicted some weeks ago.

Tottenham headed to Anfield with few really backing them to claim a positive result.

That was no slight on Tottenham; it’s just that Liverpool have been so good of late and have been winning games for fun across all competitions.

Tottenham were impressive against Liverpool though and took the lead when Son Heung-min tapped home Ryan Sessegnon’s pass.

Unfortunately for Antonio Conte, Tottenham couldn’t hold on as Luiz Diaz – a Spurs target in January – scored a deflected leveller.

Tottenham managed to hang on for the 1-1 draw and could have even won it had Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg gone for goal himself rather than attempt to find Harry Kane.

A point was a fine result for Tottenham as they continue their push for a top four finish.

This was far from ideal for Liverpool though as that slip-up allowed Manchester City to take a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool head to Aston Villa on Tuesday night but are now left praying for a City mistake in order to pile the pressure back on them at the top.

Whilst Liverpool are relying on favours from other clubs now, they will be annoyed to have not done their own job against Tottenham.

One person who saw this kind of result coming was pundit Jamie Redknapp, who played for both Liverpool and Tottenham.

Speaking to the Daily Mail last month, Redknapp admitted that he had a ‘feeling’ that Tottenham could cause Liverpool a ‘major problem’.

Redknapp felt that Jurgen Klopp’s side would struggle to navigate facing Tottenham and so it proved.

Not many teams have frustrated Liverpool like this of late, so Conte should be delighted with Tottenham’s display.

Liverpool drew both games against Tottenham this season and Conte would no doubt love to keep frustrating Klopp moving forward.
