Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool are all reportedly interested in signing the Real Madrid midfielder.

When speaking exclusively to Spanish media outlet Marca, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool-linked Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic admitted that he wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer in search of more regular first-team action.

According to a report from Marca, Liverpool and United are prepared to offer the Croatian just that, whilst fellow Spanish publication AS claims that Tottenham have made an enquiry to Real regarding the possibility of bringing the Croatian to north London.

And following the 24-year-old’s comments, all three Premier League clubs will surely be nudged into action.

Kovacic told Marca:

“I would like to play more at Madrid because I love football and being on the pitch. I know that at Madrid it’s difficult to be a starter, especially because I arrived very young. I understand the situation but that’s why I think it’s best for me to go to another club where I will have the chance to play regularly as a starter. It’s an opportunity that I think I can have and I want it now.”

The Madrid star is a wonderfully versatile central midfielder. He can operate as a deep-lying playmaker, as a ball-winning midfielder, or even more advanced in the number 10 position.

Kovacic will undoubtedly prove to be a wonderful addition for whichever club wins the race for his signature, but he won’t come cheap.

The Croatia international is value at around £80 million, according to the Daily Star, and that surely makes a move to either Liverpool or United more likely than a switch to Tottenham.

Mateo Kovacic scores in the first half of the Real Madrid vs Barcelona International Champions Cup friendly match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, on July 29, 2017.
