Stan Collymore has suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have a ‘much better chance’ than Manchester United to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton if their rivals aren’t under new ownership in the summer.
The Glazers are looking to sell Manchester United and Collymore feels, if new faces come in, then they will simply put together a ‘new attractive package’ for Alexis Mac Allister.
But he feels, Liverpool, will end up being the destination for the Brighton star if that doesn’t happen because the World Cup-winning player with Argentina wants ‘a deal completed pretty quickly’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

Whilst those at Old Trafford don’t have to worry about finishing outside of the top-four given their current standing, those on Merseyside might not just miss out on the Champions League, but also finish below Brighton themselves.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see the reaction from the Seagulls if that situation rears its ugly head because the 24-year-old is a player that would very much suit Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
Stan Collymore spoke about how the all-action midfielder is ‘very direct’, ‘dynamic’ and ‘very technical’ in his play, as he told CaughtOffside.
“I have recently seen reports that both Liverpool and Manchester United are in the running for Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister,” said Collymore. “This one is going to be interesting because it seems the player himself would like a deal completed quite quickly.
“I expect a lot to depend on who Manchester United’s new owners are come the end of the season though. If the Glazers do sell up and the Qataris take over, then I would say Old Trafford is where Mac Allister will go – simply because the Red Devils will then be able to put together a new attractive package.
“However, if that doesn’t happen then Liverpool will have a much better chance of signing the Argentine. He’s a very direct, very dynamic and very technical box-to-box midfielder, he is exactly what both clubs need but with Liverpool actively looking to rebuild their midfield, Mac Allister will know that he would play a majorly important role for Jurgen Klopp and that, to some players, is equally as important as money.”

WILL BRIGHTON SELL?
It’s obvious to all that Liverpool are a far bigger club than Brighton, but should the club look to sell their key players, if they are in Europe and those on Merseyside aren’t?
That’s just opening the door for Liverpool to finish above them next season and halt their incredible progress under Roberto De Zerbi.
Now, Brighton have proven before, if the money is on the table, then they will sell, but perhaps, just perhaps, they will change tact now and become more ruthless because of where they are heading.
