Stephen Warnock has stated that Darwin Nunez having to rely on Thiago Alcantara to translate what Jurgen Klopp has to say before Liverpool games ‘need to change quickly’, as he told DAZN.

Liverpool’s summer signing, who is from Uruguay where the commonly spoken language is Spanish, has shared that he doesn’t understand what Jurgen Klopp says when speaking in English.

It’s understandable given that he has only been in England for a few months and it’s part of his learning process.

But the quicker Nunez can learn the basics, then the quicker he can progress, both on the pitch and on the training field.

Thankfully, for Nunez, he has Spain International Thiago ready to translate every word that is spoken by the club’s coaches or teammates.

But Warnock feels that Nunez needs to take on board at least some of what Klopp is telling him.

“It was interesting listening to his interview after the game, he said when Jurgen Klopp speaks ‘I don’t know what he is saying’, so I think there is a language barrier,” said Warnock.

“He has to get over that language barrier quickly. I know Thiago’s pretty much his interpreter

“When you watch the team meetings out on the pitch, before the Champions League games or Premier League games, then you often see Thiago stood next to him basically translating straight away what Jurgen Klopp is saying.

“That needs to change quickly. He needs to make sure he can speak the language as quickly as possible or at least take on board some of what Jurgen Klopp is saying. You have to understand some of the tactics.”

NUNEZ’S BEST FORM MIGHT NOT COME UNTIL NEXT SEASON

One thing that can be trusted is Klopp’s eye for talent and his ability to get the best out of a player when others don’t probably expect it.

The German helped transform Sadio Mane into one of the world’s best forwards and now he is thriving in Bayern Munich colours having left Merseyside as a legend.

Andy Robertson is another, he needed at least 12 months to settle in at Liverpool, but once he did, the results were there for all to see.

Saying that, It wouldn’t be a surprise if fans don’t see the best of Nunez until next season.
