Liverpool are poised to sign Alexis Mac Allister and Adam Lallana has compared him to Luka Modric.

Former Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana has heaped praise upon imminent Anfield arrival Alexis Mac Allister.

The Reds appear to be on the verge of completing the signing of Brighton and Hove Albion star Mac Allister.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have booked a medical for Mac Allister in order for him to complete his move.

Mac Allister allegedly wants to get this move sorted before heading off on international duty with Argentina.

Liverpool have made Mac Allister their top target in recent weeks and it looks like he will be a Reds player by the end of the week.

The 24-year-old ended the season with 10 goals and two assists in 35 Premier League games.

Oh, and he won the World Cup in December. Mac Allister is enjoying quite the rise and looks set to cap it off with a move to Liverpool.

Adam Lallana raves about Liverpool-bound Alexis Mac Allister

If anybody is well-placed to talk about this transfer, it’s probably Adam Lallana.

Lallana is a technically-gifted midfielder who made the step up to Liverpool by leaving a South Coast club.

When the time came to leave Liverpool, Lallana chose to join Brighton – and he has witnessed Mac Allister’s rise.

Lallana has now spoken to Graham Hunter for his podcast, The Big Interview.

Lallana heaped praise on Mac Allister, lauding him as a ‘special player’ who just needed some time to settle into life in England.

The former Liverpool man noted that Mac Allsiter’s style of play is so unselfish and the way he shares the ball is just exceptional.

Lallana added that Mac Allister is of a similar ilk to Luka Modric in terms of his football intelligence despite not being blessed athletically.

Alexis… what a special player and a special person,” said Lallana. “It took him a bit of time to settle coming in, learning the language… his English is incredible now. He’s a player that is so pure in how he plays, the way he lends the football, he uses others, there’s no selfishness at all in the way he plays.”

“He’s not the quickest, he’s not the strongest, but it doesn’t matter because up here, it’s like Modric; he’s so smart, knows that the football is faster than anyone or anything, and Alexis is of that ilk – he just is,” he added.
