Jackson Martinez has told Marca that Liverpool talent Luis Diaz is one of the “most-enjoyable” players to watch in world football. The Colombian star, signed in January, has made an immediate impact at Anfield so far.

Diaz, 25, has already clocked up seven appearances for Liverpool since joining the Reds for a fee in the region of £40million in January. Liverpool moved swiftly to sign Diaz, after Tottenham made an offer for the attacker.

The Colombian laid on an assist against Cardiff City in the FA Cup, showing some dazzling footwork before laying off Takumi Minamino. Then, he opened his account with a gorgeous finish in a 3-1 win over Norwich City.

Speaking about his fellow Colombian, ex-Atletico Madrid striker Martinez branded Diaz is one of the “most-enjoyable” players to watch in the world. He believes Diaz is only going to get better, under manager Jurgen Klopp.

“In the world, he is one of the most enjoyable to watch. He’s going to go much further with the confidence that his coach is giving him,” Martinez said. “He tries so hard, has the imagination, is a goalscorer and a creator.”

Martinez on Diaz: Liverpool star is a long-term Mane replacement

While Diaz is impressing, the future of Sadio Mane remains to be up in the air. Approaching the summer, Liverpool are yet to even open talks for Mane – according to Fabrizio Romano. Mane is out of contract in June 2023.

So, do Liverpool keep Mane? Do they let him go on a free transfer in a year’s time? Or do they sell him even this summer, maximise his remaining value and trust Diaz? Whatever happens, Diaz is his long-term replacement.
