Roll it back because it’s happening again…for the fourth time in six seasons between two of Europe’s giants in Real Madrid and Liverpool in the Champions League.

On Monday, Liverpool and Real Madrid were pitted together in a standout last-16 Champions League tie, with the first leg set to be played at Anfield.

Tim Sherwood stated, forget about Jurgen Klopp’s side, the current holders themselves wouldn’t want to be facing the struggling English club, as he told Premier League Productions (07/11/22 at 2:50 pm).

Ever since Liverpool were beaten by a Vinicius Jr goal in Paris back in May, they have been on a downward spiral, including facing the possibility that they won’t secure a top-four finish this season.

Now, everything can change when teams return from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, because if the Reds showcase the performances they have been producing in recent months, then Carlo Ancelotti’s side will only inflict more pain on the Merseyside club.

But Sherwood feels, that whilst Liverpool might be going into that two-legged affair as the underdogs, he still thinks that it is a ‘nightmare’ situation for both.

“Madrid won’t want Liverpool, by the way,” said Sherwood. “I mean, they are the last team they want to play as well.

“You could pick a few before Liverpool, so that is a nightmare tie for both of them.”

SALAH REVENGE X1…BUT X2?

Ever since that Sergio Ramos moment in Kyiv in 2018, Mo Salah has seemingly been on a quest to gain revenge for an unforgettable night of his trophy-laden career.

The Egypt star had a prime chance to do just that in the Champions League final last season, but just like many of his own teammates, they just didn’t up to France’s capital.

Well, whilst this isn’t a final, it’s another chance for Salah to get his own back, over two legs, which should produce some drama-filled yet entertaining football.

The final in Paris was a little bit more drab because of the occasion, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if both teams are more on the front foot during these two matches.
