Liverpool are said to plan to open talks with Lyon over the transfer of Nabil Fekir after their Champions League final meeting with Real Madrid, according to latest reports in France.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are said to be among the clubs to have shown interest in Lyon’s stand-out player this season, although Liverpool are yet to make an official approach for the playmaker, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool have the small matter of their first Champions League final in 12 years to focus upon, with the club looking to make it six European titles when they meet defending champions Real Madrid in Kiev next Saturday.
But Liverpool will waste little time in shifting their focus to next season, with L’Equipe [via the Liverpool Echo] reporting the Premier League side will approach Lyon as early as next week.
Fekir struck 23 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions in a hugely productive season that also saw Lyon clinch qualification for next season’s Champions League. That form saw the 24-year-old rewarded with a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, securing a place at the expense of Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.
