Liverpool want Teun Koopmeiners with the Reds keeping close tabs on the Atalanta midfielder ahead of a potential bid.
That’s according to iNews, who claim that Liverpool have been scouting Koopmeiners for a potential move to Anfield.
This goes along with the current theory that Jurgen Klopp’s assistant Pepijn Lijnders is having major influence on transfers at Liverpool.
Lijnders is a Dutch coach who was schooled in Portugal at Porto, with Liverpool now placing a keen focus on Portuguese and Dutch markets.
Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez arrived from Porto and Benfica respectively with Cody Gakpo now arriving from PSV Eindhoven.
Koopmeiners is a Dutch international and would continue this trend if Liverpool do make a move for the Atalanta star in 2023.

Koopmeiners, 24, emerged in the AZ Alkmaar ranks having first joined the club as a child.
Koopmeiners ended up making over 150 appearances for AZ, becoming a first-team star and attracting major interest in the process.
Atalanta pounced to sign Koopmeiners in 2021 and he has nailed down a regular spot in Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Koopmeiners has bagged eight goals in 58 appearances for Atalanta and now has 15 caps for the Netherlands.
Capable of playing box-to-box or in front of the defence, Koopmeiners could offer competition for Fabinho whilst being able to contribute going forward.
Tuttomercatoweb recently noted that Napoli also want Koopmeiners but Atalanta are demanding around €40million (£35million).
Atalanta hero Domenico Progna has hailed Koopmeiners as an ‘extraordinary player’ and it’s clear that he is highly rated in Italy.
Koopmeiners may also fancy the chance to join up with Netherlands international teammates Virgil van Dijk and now Gakpo.
Liverpool will be linked with plenty of midfielders both this month and ahead of the summer but Koopmeiners is now a name to keep very close tabs on with the Dutchman emerging as a real target.
