Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara won’t be in Bayern Munich training.

Bayern’s squad are due to back for medical tests later today, but Thiago is not set to be there with his teammates, with Liverpool still pushing to sign him, according to the latest update.

Romano says that ‘key days are coming’ in what looks a hugely exciting development for Liverpool fans.

The journalist also claims that Liverpool are well ahead in the race, as rival interest from Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United is not strong.

Whether Thiago’s absence is due to the interest that is building in him is not stated, but it would seem a likely conclusion to draw.

If Liverpool can push through a deal for the 29-year-old he would be a hugely eye-catching addition to their squad.

Thiago is one of the finest midfielders in the world right now, and his ability in possession would immediately make Liverpool a better side.

The Reds may have enjoyed great success last term, but the arrival of Thiago is the sort of signing which could see Klopp’s side dominate English football for the years ahead.
