Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has compared reported Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the original Ronaldo, with the Italian businessman lauding the Napoli star’s impact in Serie A this season.

Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, the ex-Inter official made the lofty comparison between Kvaratskhelia and Ronaldo, with the Georgian international having a sensational impact on Napoli as the Neopolitan side currently sit top of the Italian top-flight.

Moratti said: “Kvaratskhelia like Ronaldo the Phenomenon? They are different players, but the impact has been similar. I wish Kvaratskhelia to have the same career and explosion of Ronaldo. He will be decisive for the victory of Napoli with his incredible skills.”

With eight and goals and 10 assists already this season, Kvaratskhelia’s form for Napoli this season has been nothing short of sensational. Yet as a result, the 21-year-old winger has now been linked with a big-money move to the Premier League, with Liverpool one of the clubs interested.

CalcioMercato recently reported that the Reds are big fans of Kvaratskhelia, though it is currently unlikely that Liverpool will move in for the winger following the recent signing of Cody Gakpo, even with the attacker being compared to a player as legendary as Ronaldo.

Indeed, Kvaratskhelia’s career has only really begun this season, and whilst being likened to Ronaldo is quite the compliment, the Georgian international has some way to go before the attacker can be compared to as iconic a forward as the Brazilian legend.

Kvaratskhelia comparison to Ronaldo is ambitious at best

Kvaratskhelia’s form this season has made the Napoli star one of the most talked about players in all of Europe, and for good reason. The Serie A side landed one of the bargains of the summer in the 21-year-old, yet even after everything that has happened this campaign, comparisons to Ronaldo are ambitious at best.

After all, Ronaldo is one of the greatest attackers football has ever seen. And whilst an argument could be made that Kvaratskhelia’s impact at Napoli has been similar to the Brazilian’s at Inter, the gulf in quality is still too big to fully justify a debate.
