The Atletico Madrid ace is a reported transfer target for Liverpool.

Atletico Madrid's Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak poses after receiving the 'Zamora' award in Barcelona on December 18, 2017.

Reported Liverpool target Jan Oblak spoke to reporters in the aftermath of Atletico Madrid’s draw with Real Betis last night, and responded when asked to provide an update on his future, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

The Reds have identified the 25-year-old as one of their key summer transfer targets, according to the Liverpool Echo, as Jürgen Klopp looks to address a real problem position at Anfield.

Spanish media outlet AS claims that the Slovenia international has a €100 million (£87.5 million) inserted into his current contract with Atleti, and he still has three years remaining on his deal in the Spanish capital.

Oblak issued a noncommittal update on his future, when speaking to reporters last night, potentially leaving the door open to a switch to Merseyside this summer, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

“No news. I have the contract that I signed two years ago. What will happen well nobody knows, not even me. I prefer to finish the season well and hopefully with a title. Then we’ll see but I have a contract. I do not think of anything other than Atletico. Atletico can grow. They have grown a lot and surely will not stop now, although it is not easy. I am sure that Atletico will grow and we will see what will happen to me, for the moment I am here. I have a contract until 2021. If I continue, we will grow together and if not, the club will grow as well.”

Whilst the reported transfer fee seems like an extortionate amount of money, in today’s day and age it actually represents decent value, and if Klopp does in fact manage to bring the Atleti ace to Anfield, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Liverpool.
