Liverpool have reportedly been tracking the Roma goalkeeper all summer.
According to a report from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, long-term Liverpool target Alisson is on the cusp of joining Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Jürgen Klopp has been extremely active already during this summer’s transfer window, bringing in midfield duo Fabinho and Naby Keita, but fans and pundits alike believe that the German must sign a world-class goalkeeper in order to take his side to the next level.
Liverpool have been monitoring the 25-year-old Brazil international all summer long, according to Sky Sports, but it seems as though their pursuit of the stopper might be about to end in disappointment.
Mundo Deportvo claims that Alisson has already agreed terms with Real Madrid, although the La Liga side are still yet to match Roma’s £70 million valuation of the goalkeeper.
The Reds will now have to switch their focus elsewhere.
Liverpool have been linked with numerous names already this summer, including Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Southampton’s Alex McCarthy.
Whatever happens, Klopp quite simply must bring a top level goalkeeper to Anfield this summer, if his side a are to mount a sustained challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Unfortunately for them, though, it looks like their pursuit of Alisson is destined to end in failure.
