The 17-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in world football, and Jurgen Klopp is said to be very interested in bringing the teenager to Liverpool.

22 goals in 28 games for the United States U15’s, 28 goals in 32 games for the United States U17’s, 3 goals in 8 games for the full United States Mens National Team and the youngest player to score a brace in Bundesliga history.

Those are just some of the stats which make it easy to see why Liverpool are interested in Christian Pulisic, and why Liverpool fans are excited about the prospect of signing the forward.

The Dortmund youngster who will turn 18 later this month may have put some Liverpool fans off signing him today though, when he admitted his love for Manchester United and club captain Wayne Rooney.

“I was a big Manchester United fan when I was younger,” Pulisic conceded, adding “I loved to watch Wayne Rooney.”

“I think his passion for the game is something you don’t see much in players. That’s what I loved about him.”

Like Pulisic, Rooney was tipped for greatness from a young age, and was already starring for his country and in the Champions League as a teenager.

Despite his admiration for the England and Manchester United skipper, the Liverpool target stated “I wouldn’t say I’m a similar player [to Rooney] though.”

Born in Pennsylvania, Pulisic spent a year of his childhood in England, where he was part of the youth setup at lowly Brackley Town.

He is unlikely to find himself in such modest surroundings should he return to the English game, with a number of Premier League clubs said to be eyeing him.

Liverpool remain as the front runners though, and Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to be put off by the news that Pulisic supports one of the Reds great rivals; Manchester United.

The Red Devils may have been interested in Pulisic themselves, were it not for having their own world class prospect in the form of Marcus Rashford.

Despite his promise, the 17-year-old is finding first team opportunities hard to come by at Borussia Dortmund, where there are a plethora of talented attacking players.
