Everton and Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw last weekend in the Merseyside derby.
Sam Allardyce has, rather remarkably, managed to get Liverpool supporters to feel sorry for Everton fans.
Everton’s performance in the Merseyside derby, which they drew 0-0 with Liverpool last weekend, was criticised by sections of the crowd at Goodison Park.
While the result was a fairly positive one, many Everton supporters felt that Allardyce had not been attacking enough.
However, Allardyce was quick to defend his tactics, suggesting that he had got the better of Liverpool’s attack.
“We did a job on Liverpool by nullifying that outstanding attack even though they changed the team around,” he said to the Liverpool Echo.
And even Reds supporters were left feeling sympathetic towards Everton fans, for having Allardyce as their manager.
Allardyce has come in for a lot of stick since taking the Everton job, despite guiding them into ninth place in the Premier League table.
It remains unclear whether Allardyce will keep his job at Everton next season, with his future very uncertain.
Everton are next in action tomorrow, when they take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
