Liverpool have suffered a huge blow following their victory over Arsenal as Trent Alexander-Arnold will be out injured for a few weeks.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool picked up a huge 2-0 victory in the third round of the FA Cup against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium thanks to an own goal from Jakub Kiwior and a strong finish from Luis Diaz.
One player who stood out more than most at the Emirates Stadium and that was Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was truly brilliant in North London.
However, the Anfield club have suffered a huge blow for their season as the brilliant right-back looks set to be on the sidelines for a few weeks.

Alexander-Arnold injury
Speaking ahead of the Anfield club’s Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Fulham, Pep Lijnders, who was taking the press conference in place of Jurgen Klopp, revealed the extent of the injury.
“He hyperextended his knee in the game, so there’s a little tear in the lateral ligament. He will be out for probably three weeks,” Lijnders said.
“It’s a big blow. He was one of our most important players. He creates a lot of dynamics, he’s always decisive, even in bad spells he was the one who put the balls where it made the difference.
“We will have to find new dynamics without him because he made our game flexible, so it’s a big blow. Hopefully three weeks, and with the winter break in between.”
Van Dijk injury boost
However, despite the huge blow of losing Alexander-Arnold, there is one positive for the Reds as Virgil Van Dijk will be back for the game despite missing the win over Arsenal over the weekend.
“Virgil is back. He did some runs yesterday on the pitch, looked good again. So he will be back in the squad, he recovered well,” Lijnders said.
Having the imperious Dutch centre-back available again will be a huge boost as the Merseyside club bid to reach the Carabao Cup final for the second time in three seasons.
