Newcastle United should make a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi.
The pressure is off the shoulders of Rafael Benitez after Newcastle United secured their first win of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign beating West Ham United 3-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday.
The focus now shifts on to transfer dealings, and Benitez knows that he needs to bring in some quality players and at the same time ship out unwanted players from the squad.
Bolstering the attacking department is necessary, and Benitez could be in the market to sign a striker – step up, Liverpool’s Divock Origi.
According to the Telegraph, Liverpool may consider selling the Belgian striker, who has dropped down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
The 22-year-old is an already established international having made 22 appearances for the star-studded Belgium national team already.
The report claims that the Reds may be prepared to let him leave before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.
Origi has scored 12 goals in only 21 Premier League starts and last season netted in five successive appearances in all competitions during November and December.
He is a fantastic goal scorer who will add significant quality to Benitez’s side. Tottenham Hotspur could be interested, but Liverpool may not be keen to sell him to a direct rival club.
From that perspective, Newcastle will have a better chance of landing him.
He fears that he would miss out on a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad if he continues to warm the bench.
Origi wants to play regularly, and the Magpies can provide him that opportunity. The move makes sense for all parties involved.
