The Reds beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening.
Jermaine Jenas has told BBC Sport that Liverpool’s ability to hold out and secure the win was what really stood out in the victory over Chelsea.
The Reds travelled to London on Friday evening to take on their fierce rivals at Stamford Bridge.
It proved to be a happy evening for them too as a goal from Dejan Lovren and a super strike from Jordan Henderson saw them to a 2-1 victory.
They eventually had to fight to secure all three points as the home side went on the attack at the end of the game to try and grab an equaliser.
Jurgen Klopp’s side held out, though, and Jenas says that is what really stood out for him.
“As impressive as they [Liverpool] passed the ball, it was the strength they showed at the end to hold on which stood out for me,” he told BBC Sport.
“It was a complete display but it’s whether they can maintain that. It seems like they thrive on these big occasions but let’s see if they can do it week-in week-out.”
This result is likely to have assured many that the Reds could be title contenders this season.
They now sit fourth in the table after beating Chelsea, with 10 points from their first five games of the season.
They return to action in the Premier League next weekend when they host Hull City at Anfield, a game they will be expected to get all three points from after this display.
