Liverpool are keen on Quincy Promes, who was linked with Tottenham in the summer.

Liverpool are reported to be stepping up interest in Dutch international Quincy Promes, according to The Sun.

The Reds are keen on Promes as cover for Sadio Mane who is off to the African Nations Cup with Senegal in January – but it could be possible that Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur step in.

The Mail reported back in June that Mauricio Pochettino was keen on signing Promes, after an impressive season for Spartak Moscow.

Promes scored 18 goals for the Russian side last season and has already struck six times this campaign and provided six assists.

He is a winger who would add even more danger to Liverpool’s devastating front line, while Tottenham arguably need him even more, given their lack of potency – barring the recent 5-0 win over strugglers Swansea.

Promes could link up with Dutch international teammate Vincent Janssen at Spurs, while at Liverpool he would have Georginio Wijnaldum as a familiar face.

The 24-year-old’s club Spartak Moscow are not in a position financially where they need to sell, and Promes could attract a substantial bid.

With Tottenham and Liverpool battling for positions at the top end of the table, and even possibly the title, Promes’ transfer could be a swaying factor, and Spurs should not let the Reds snap him up without a fight.
