Stefan Bajcetic could feature for Liverpool against Manchester City in the EFL Cup tonight but who exactly is the young prospect?
Non-Liverpool fans may be wondering that if they see Bajcetic in the Reds lineup to take on Pep Guardiola’s side.
With players still coming back from the World Cup any maybe not ready to play at the Etihad Stadium tonight, Jurgen Klopp could call on young players.
Bajcetic seems a prime contender, potentially taking the holding midfield role with Fabinho only back in training earlier this week.
So just who is Stefan Bajcetic? Let’s take a closer look…

Who is Stefan Bajcetic?
Bajcetic, 18, was born in Vigo in the Galicia region of Spain. His father Srdjan played for Celta Vigo between 1994 and 1997 and was back living there in 2004, the year of Stefan’s birth.
Bajcetic understandably started out in the Celta Vigo ranks, joining them back in 2013 before Liverpool came calling.
The Reds secured Bajcetic’s signature in 2020, paying around £224,000 to bring him over to Anfield.
The Athletic noted that Manchester United had been interested in signing Bajcetic but Liverpool convinced him to pick Merseyside over Old Trafford.
The teenager has mostly played as a holding midfielder in the Liverpool ranks, but has also turned out as a centre back and even right back.
With five first-team appearances under his belt already, Bajcetic is highly rated at Anfield.
Liverpool coach Pepijn Lijnders has admitted to This Is Anfield that Klopp said ‘wow’ when talking about Bajcetic’s maturity in training.
Capable of playing for Serbia, Bajcetic has three caps for Spain’s Under-18’s and will likely made a firm decision on his international allegiance down the line.
