Duncan Castles has told the Transfer Window Podcast that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is setting up a move and doesn’t have the best relationship with Jurgen Klopp.
Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent times, with doubts surrounding his future continuing.
The Egyptian winger has spoken to the Spanish media again recently, which seems to be becoming a common trend.
Salah has already been linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona, and there are now suggestions that the Liverpool flyer could be on the market.
Castles also says that Salah’s relationship with Klopp is not the ‘easiest’ as the German boss often wants him to contribute more in a defensive sense.
“I think the plan was always that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane would be sold should the right bids come in for them at a time that suited Liverpool and the players,” Castles said.
“They would get higher salaries, they would get to play in another league and Liverpool could buy a replacement who fit the system.
“I don’t think it’s a secret that Salah and Jurgen Klopp don’t have the easiest of relationships. There have been issues between them.
“That has affected slightly the way Liverpool play as a team.
“Salah for all his elite goalscoring, and his numbers remain exceptionally good this season, there are times that he doesn’t contribute as much as would be liked in other areas of the game.
“Salah has been setting up this move, people around him have been talking about the idea he would move, he has given a couple of interviews in Spain where he has been talking about the attraction of playing in Spain.”
The best example of Salah failing to meet Klopp’s standards in terms of defending came earlier this season against Chelsea.
Liverpool were 1-0 down in the game, but the Reds still took off their top goalscorer, after Klopp had gone mad at him from the touchline.
If Salah did leave Liverpool it would still be a huge blow to the Reds, as he is the only one of their forward trio whose standards have not slipped too badly this season.
Salah has continued to score regularly, which is impressive given Liverpool’s recent form.
It should be stressed though that Castles said that Salah would not necessarily leave Anfield this summer, despite the signs suggesting that the player may be open to departing if the Reds were to accept a bid.
