Liverpool youngster Brewster discusses future amid Arsenal and Spurs links

Rhian Brewster has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur and now the Liverpool youngster has spoken publicly about his future.

The future of Rhian Brewster as a Liverpool player remains in doubt with the Sun claiming Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in the teenager.

Having recently turned 18-years-old, the Reds have been quick to offer a long-term first professional contract to Brewster to tie down the striker at Anfield.

However, the England Under-18 international is seeking assurances that he will get first team opportunities under manager Jurgen Klopp before signing the deal.

This has lead the North London duo to keep an eye on developments, becoming the latest high profile European club to try and make a move to sign Brewster.

In the past Barcelona, Juventus and Monaco have all expressed interest, while moves to Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have recently been rejected by the forward.

Brewster could have followed in the steps of international teammate, Jadon Sancho – with the pair winning the U17 World Cup together last year – who is currently at Dortmund, but has also been influenced by the breakthrough season Trent Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed on Merseyside in 2017/18.

“Sure, I look at people like Jadon. But then I look at people like Trent,” the youngster told Goal.

“You can do it both ways. You can go down the road of staying, waiting for a chance and then taking it, like Trent did, or you can look at it like Jadon did, and think maybe I won’t get my chance here, so I can go somewhere else, abroad maybe. I look at it both ways.

“I’m going to do what’s best for me. If that meant going Jadon’s way, I’d go Jadon’s way. If it means staying and doing what Trent did, then I’ll do a Trent!”

Brewster continued: “At the moment, I just want to be playing regular professional football for the first team. Whether that was at Liverpool or somewhere else, yeah it was uncertain.

“But hopefully in 12 months’ time I’ll be sat here saying I made the right decision in what I chose to do. I want to be able to reflect positively on that.”
