Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has told LFCTV that all his teammates were saying how bad a tackle Jordan Pickford put in, during the half-time break at Goodison Park.

Virgil van Dijk had taken be taken off, after Pickford rushed out of his goal and slide into the Dutch defender at around knee height.

Robertson actually didn’t see the challenge from the Everton goalkeeper.

But his Liverpool teammates did tell him just how dangerous the tackle was at the break.

“To be honest, I never saw it. I just saw Virg going down,” Robertson said.

“But the lads when they came in at half-time said it was a shocking challenge, so that’s two they’ve done us with. ‘I can’t comment on if Pickford’s meant it or not, I think he’s an honest lad and I don’t think he would have.”

It has subsequently been found out that Van Dijk’s injury could keep him out for the rest of the season.

The powerful defender has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, and won’t be returning for months now.

That is a major blow to Liverpool’s hopes of retaining their Premier League title.

Van Dijk is arguably the most important player in their starting line-up, and his absence will be a real concern to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
